Take Weed out to the Ballgame
Benzinga Cannabis shares that the Chicago Cubs have become the first major league baseball team to allow cannabis in the ballpark:
Chicago Cubs fans are getting a new drink to wash down their Garrett’s Popcorn and twisted tators at Wrigley Field: a fruity CBD beverage. Following the Cubs’ new partnership with MYND DRINKS, an award-winning wellness and recovery beverage brand, the hemp-based product is now the team’s “Official CBD Partner” – a first for a Major League Baseball (MLB) club.
In order to be considered, a CBD company must receive the NSF Certified for Sport designation. After a thorough approval process, MYND DRINKS’ Elderberry Passionfruit, Orange Mango and Lemon Ginger flavors met the safety standards and received the certification.
This comes on the heels of this Cannabis Now Magazine story on the NBA ending its ban on cannabis for players:
The National Basketball Association (NBA) will end its blanket prohibition of cannabis for its athletes, according to the terms of a new tentative collective bargaining agreement with the players union revealed over the weekend. According to a report from The Athletic citing sources familiar with the agreement with the organization, the NBA will also stop testing players for cannabis use and remove marijuana from its list of banned substances, following the lead of other professional sports leagues, including Major League Baseball (MLB) and the National Hockey League (NHL). The deal, which was agreed to by negotiators for the league and the players union in late March, also allows players to invest in and promote regulated cannabis companies.
