Michigan 4/20 Sales Rise Again in 2022
Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency Director Andrew Brisbo shared the incredible sales impact of 2022’s 4/20 holiday on LinkedIn:
Consumers purchased over 2.3 tons of marijuana flower in Michigan retailers yesterday. Initial data shows overall sales of flower on 4/20 in 2022 were up 242% from the same day in 2021 (which were up 444% vs 2020).
Flower sold on 4/20:
- 2022 – 4619 lbs
- 2021 – 1912 lbs
- 2020 – 430 lbs
Consumers purchased more than $15.5 million of marijuana product from MIchigan retailers yesterday. Initial data indicates that overall marijuana product sales (as measured by the price) on 4/20 in 2022 was up 45% from the same day in 2021 (which was up 291% compared to 2020).
Total marijuana sales in Michigan on 4/20:
- 2022 – $15,558,079
- 2021 – $10,696,653
- 2020 – $3,670,832
Overall sales continue to increase despite significant price decreases year over year.
Over 140,000 adult-use vape cartridges were sold yesterday — 100,000 more than last year.
CRA PR Manager David Harnes commented, “This translates to over $2.55 million in excise taxes and state sales taxes in *one day* — money that makes its way to schools, roads, and local government budgets.”
