Cookies cannabis lounge nearing approval in Kalamazoo

mLive reports that a marijuana consumption lounge is going through the city of Kalamazoo’s site review process:

Cookies Kalamazoo is listed as the name on the city of Kalamazoo’s list of marijuana businesses with a provisional approval to operate. AEY Capital LLC is listed as another business name.

The site sat mostly empty on Friday, Oct. 22.

Next to the proposed consumption lounge, Cookies Kalamazoo has a provisional permit approved to set up a marijuana retailer at 3825 Stadium Drive.

…A site plan meeting was held on the consumption lounge project, (Kalamazoo Planner Bobby) Durkee said, and the company was asked to add some information to the plan and resubmit it. Some of the changes were related to stormwater runoff and a question about the kitchen, and some other details, he said.

This is the first consumption lounge to come through the city’s planning process, he said.

In May 2020, the city of Kalamazoo approved new rules to allow cannabis businesses including growers, processors, retailers and consumption lounges.
